My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🐾 Oreo – Strong, Sweet, and Ready for His Fresh Start!

Meet Oreo, a resilient and affectionate 1-year-old Australian Shepherd mix with the heart of a survivor. This sweet boy has been through so much — he was found after being hit by a car and brought to a vet by animal control. Despite his painful injuries, Oreo never lost his gentle spirit or his will to love.

After surgery to repair his leg and heal from road rash on his face, Oreo has made an incredible recovery. Today, he’s walking, wagging, and loving life again — proof that second chances really do exist.

Oreo is playful, loyal, and full of gratitude. He’s bursting with energy and enthusiasm for life, making him best suited for a family with older children or adults who can match his upbeat pace. He’d thrive with an active household that enjoys walks, backyard play, or weekend adventures.

Whether it’s a game of fetch, a car ride, or simply relaxing by your side, Oreo is ready to share life’s simple joys with his forever family.

Additional adoption info

Thank you for visiting!

If interested in our adoptables please contact us at hopefultailsadoptions@outlook.com, and let us know who you're interested in meeting. You must fill out an adoption application if interested in adopting followed by an adoption contract.

All dogs require a $100 training deposit. Once confirmation of the completion of a training class has been sent to the rescue, you will receive your deposit back in full.

As we are a rescue all of our adult dogs/puppies for adoption must be spayed and neutered. Although we make every attempt to have this done before finding their adoptive families, this is not always possible. Please speak with your adoption coordinator to see of this service has already been performed or they will explain to you if your new dog/puppy will need this service while in your care at no cost to you.

When emailing please include your phone number to help speed up the adoption process. Also, for the safety of our dogs, we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Joliet, Illinois, to allow our volunteers to do home checks, if necessary.
