My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Sophie! I'm a gentle soul who likes to take my time getting to know new people and new places. At first, I might hang back and quietly observe, but once I realize you're kind and safe, I'll happily soak up your attention and even ask for more. I may be shy to start, but there's a warm, affectionate heart waiting just beneath the surface.

I'm also pretty independent-I enjoy finding cozy spots to nap, watching the world from a sunny window, and doing my own thing. But when the mood strikes, I love quiet companionship and gentle pets from someone I trust. If you have a calm home and a little patience, I promise to blossom into a loving, loyal friend who will make every day a little brighter.

More about this shelter

Founded in 1941 by the third female graduate from Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, SAVE is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit animal shelter dedicated to protecting the health and welfare of homeless companion animals in the greater Princeton area and beyond. Through six core programs of Rescue, Shelter, Health and Welfare, Spay/Neuter, Foster and Adoption.

The SAVE shelter facility has the capacity to house upwards of 100 animals at a time (approximately 75 cats and 25 dogs). The shelter exceeds no-kill benchmark standards and ensures that adoptable animals facing adversity are given a lifeline, a chance to flourish, and the promise of a better tomorrow.
