My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

“The road to my heart is paved with paw prints.” This reminds us of our dear Elliott, who has quickly won the hearts of our shelter staff and volunteers.

Why we love him: Certain Hollywood leading men such as Sam Elliott are known as strong, silent types and this makes us think of OUR Elliott. He is so gentle and good natured and we love spending time with him. He has the tenderest of hearts and the gentlest of souls and is a wonderful dog.

Elliott is three years old and weighs 60 pounds. If you want to adopt a medium sized dog, he could be the one!

Lucky Elliott is spending some time in the home of one of our dedicated volunteers who reports: " Elliott has been the very best and sweetest house guest.

Elliott loves playing in my backyard and hops around with such joy and exuberance. He especially enjoys the squeaky balls. He can't decide which is his favorite one, so he goes back and forth keeping a close watch on the one not currently in his mouth.

Elliott is so respectful my home and personal items. He is patient with food and when I am cooking and eating my dinner. Elliott is a great cuddler and crates very well when asked. He has never chewed anything besides his toys.

Elliott would do best with a family with children and a fenced yard but could thrive otherwise if given adequate exercise.

Elliott knows basic commands and responds to them very well. He trains well and is treat motivated. Elliott is house trained, too. He is a very sweet and lovable dog."

Back at the shelter, Elliott is an enthusiastic companion on daily walks and is a sought after companion. He loves outings in the fenced yard, where he enjoys running and playing with the toys.

Elliott has a heart full of love he gladly shares with you. He is so grateful for attention and affection and is the best cuddly buddy you could ask for! Elliott also likes to just chill out.

He is a bright dog who wants to please should be easy to train. Elliott will already sit on command.

He will be such a wonderful companion and the love and devotion are guaranteed. Elliott is an absolute sweetheart!

More about this shelter

Cheatham County Animal Control is committed to finding good homes for the animals that come into the shelter system. We work with rescues and adopters. We are a no kill shelter but we rely on people coming in to adopt!

All of our cats/dogs receive vaccinations that are appropriate for the age and health when they are at animal control. We also spay and neuter all of our animals. The adopter is responsible for all vaccinations and medical care after adoption.
