My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Brownie! ????
Brownie is an adorable 4-year-old, 11-pound sweetheart who came to us through no fault of his own. He was originally given to a family with teenagers, but when the kids lost interest and their elderly grandmother could no longer care for him, she lovingly reached out to us for help.

Brownie is as sweet as his name — gentle, loving, and happiest when he’s curled up on your lap or right by your side. It doesn’t take him long to adjust to new surroundings, and once he does, his goofy, fun-loving personality really shines through.

He’s a loyal little companion with so much love to give and is ready to find his forever home where he’ll never be overlooked again. ??

Additional adoption info

Our main goal is always to find the very best fit for each of our animals. We take time to get to know every pet in our care—their personalities, needs, and quirks—so we can help match them with the right family.

When you apply to adopt, here’s what you can expect:

Application Review: We carefully look over every application to be sure the home environment matches the pet’s needs.

Conversations, Not Tests: We may ask follow-up questions or chat with you about your lifestyle, schedule, and what you’re hoping for in a pet. This helps us make the best match possible.

Meet & Greet: If it seems like a good fit, we’ll arrange a meeting so you and the animal can get to know each other.

Adoption Agreement: Once approved, we’ll finalize the adoption paperwork and review everything you need to know to help your new pet adjust and thrive.

Our animals have already been through a lot, so we want their next stop to be their forever home. Thank you for understanding that we are always looking out for their best interest—and for opening your heart to adoption.

More about this rescue

At Valley Dog Rescue of Texas, we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to giving abandoned, neglected, and abused animals a second chance at life. Based in the Valley of South Texas, we work tirelessly to rescue dogs who have been forgotten, mistreated, or left behind.

Every animal that comes into our care receives the medical treatment they need, the patience and compassion to heal emotionally, and the opportunity to experience love and safety—often for the very first time. Our ultimate goal is to match each rescued dog with a permanent, loving home where they can truly thrive.

We believe that every life matters and that no animal is beyond hope. Through the dedication of our volunteers, fosters, adopters, and supporters, we are able to transform lives, one rescue at a time.
