My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Celery Cypress (Cy for short) is a Grade A Roly-Poly guy! He will greet you by rolling over on his back and doing delightful acrobatic stretches, welcoming belly rubs. His contortions will amaze you at times—he could be a yoga instructor. He loves a soft kicker toy, since his favorite place to be is lolling around on the floor.

Cy has come a long way from his arrival when he needed a major bath (and handled it like a champ). With his big round eyes and big sweet face on a skinny little body with a long skinny tail, he looks just like a cartoon version of a cat — too cute!

While he can be a bit scared of loud noises, his foster parents are guessing he just needs time to adjust to his new surroundings. Because once you’ve gained his trust, he relishes your presence. He will mew, squeak, or and chirp when he wants his people to hang out with him.

Cy is not the type of kitten to run around and knock your things over. He’s more subdued, enjoying a loooong nap cuddled up on your lap or on your chest. For hours. The sweet sound of his tiny snores near your face will warm your heart!

This cat needs to be adopted with a friend -- applications for them as a single cat will not be answered.

More about this rescue

Our rescue group was formed in December 2007, but all our Board Members have had extensive experience rescuing and working with abandoned animals. We often work with other rescue organizations to find appropriate and safe foster and adoptive homes for our pet clients. We regularly go to areas with abandoned animals and collect them. The animals are taken to a licensed veterinarian examined, treated and spayed or neutered. Every effort is made to work with the animal and our foster and adoptive families to find a suitable forever home.

For those animals who are truly wild and feral, we release the animal in a safe and secure location after it has recovered from its medical treatment. We also work with certified wildlife rehabilitators to rescue injured and orphaned wildlife. Our organization is focused on improving the welfare of the abandoned animals in need of help in Brooklyn. In furthering that goal, our resources are focused on the animals.

Aside from a few minimal overhead costs such as our website and phone services, our entire budget is spent on animal care such as medical and food costs.
