Meet Mochi - the Sweetest Kind of Tortoiseshell Sugar
Mochi is a gorgeous young tortoiseshell who has overcome a difficult start and blossomed into one of the Catfe’s most affectionate residents. She was rescued in March 2025 from a home in Richmond where an overwhelming number of cats made it impossible to keep up with proper veterinary care. Since then, Mochi has truly thrived and shown everyone just how special she is.
This sweet tortie is a total people-cat. Mochi adores human companionship and seeks it out whenever she can—whether that means greeting you the moment you walk through the Catfe doors or politely asking for attention with loving head bumps. Her favorite place to be is curled up in a warm lap, purring contentedly while she soaks up every bit of affection you’re willing to give.
Mochi has been sharing space at the Catfe with other felines for several months and handles it beautifully. She’s mostly unbothered by her kitty roommates and would be purrfectly happy as your one-and-only, where she could be the center of attention. That said, she could also do well in a home with one or two calm, well-mannered cats.
Despite being friendly, affectionate, and endlessly charming, Mochi has somehow been overlooked—and we truly can’t understand why. She’s waited patiently for her person, and her forever home is long overdue. Some of our kitties are in foster homes and about 40 are at our shelter. So be patient! We may have to schedule a visit at a foster home.
