Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Bruno! 🐾
Bruno is a striking, bright-eyed boy with an energetic spirit and a whole lot of enthusiasm for life. This active pup is currently enrolled in the Puppies for Parole program, where he’s putting his energy to good use by working on basic obedience and leash skills.
Bruno loves to stay busy and thrives when he has structure, enrichment, and opportunities to move his body. Walks, playtime, training sessions, and interactive activities are right up his alley. He’s eager to learn, highly motivated, and enjoys having a “job,” which makes continued training both important and rewarding for him.
In the Puppies for Parole program, Bruno has also done well with other dogs, showing that he can be a great candidate for a home with a canine companion.
Thanks to his participation in Puppies for Parole, Bruno is gaining confidence, focus, and the tools he needs to succeed in a home environment. He would do best with an adopter who appreciates an active dog and is excited to continue building on the training foundation he’s already started.
📞 Contact the shelter at 816-271-4877 to set up a meet and greet with Bruno. 💚

Go meet their pets
St. Joseph Animal Services has an adopter’s welcome policy. Our goal is to minimize adoption barriers and make adopting a pet a positive experience. Animal shelter staff and volunteers use conversations and counseling to help match adoptable pets with customers. The adopter’s welcome policy embraces the community, assumes positive intent, and supports people and pets.
Dogs and cats that are the property of the city will be adopted to the public on a first come, first serve process. Potential adopters must physically come to the shelter to meet and adopt a pet. The availability of animals cannot be guaranteed, and animals will not be placed on hold for adopters.
The shelter is open Tuesday through Sunday from 1pm-5:30pm. We are located at 701 Lower Lake Road, St. Joseph, MO 64504.
