My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Due to Bella's popularity and large influx of applications, we are no longer accepting new applications for Bella.

Animal Profile: Bella is an extremely loving 10-year-old spayed Cavalier King Charles spaniel. She was surrendered to our care after her loving family of 10 years had to go into assisted living and could not bring her with them. Bella was well cared for since she was a puppy, receiving regular grooming, vet care, dental cleanings and homemade dog food.

Foster Update: Meet Bella! This sweet girl is nothing but love, and she is not afraid to show it! She greets everyone she meets with a happy, wagging tail and is so eager to say hello. She is extremely sweet with a gentle spirit. Bella enjoys playing with her stuffed toys and gets excited about meal time & treats (so much so that she has found herself very overweight, but we are working on it! :) When not playing or hanging out by your side, Bella enjoys snoozing in her dog crate and will go in there gladly (she sleeps in there all night too!). She has ignored the 2 cats in her foster mom and co-exists with them well. Bella walks well on leash, though we are still working on building up her stamina. Bella came to us quite overweight, and we are working on helping her get down to her ideal weight. Helping Bella reach a healthy weight is critical for her overall health, as well as her stamina. She is making progress with increased walks and properly portioned meals, but her forever home will need to be committed to helping Bella get back to a healthy weight. She is fully potty trained and has had great house manners. It was a big adjustment for Bella when she first entered foster care (understandably so), so we have been working through a little bit of separation anxiety. All in all, Bella is doing amazing and she can't wait to land her forever home to live out her golden years.

Background on Bella: Bella had been with her family for 10 years; they had her since she was a puppy. During her time with them, Bella received regular vet visits, grooming, dental care and home-cooked food. She was extremely well cared for and loved, and it was heartbreaking for her family to let her go. Her family had to go into assisted living, and with their declining health and alzheimer's diagnosis, they felt it was best for Bella to find a new home to live out her golden years. Her great start to life shows; she is one loving pup!

Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, recent exam with a veterinarian, and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.
