Brahms is a handsome 7-year-old Rottweiler. His favorite activities include fetch, wrestling, and running on wooded trails. He is good with other dogs outside and inside, loves to chase and romp with his friends but also enjoys long hours of sunbathing. He also gets along with people and gravitates towards confident and respectful handlers. True to his breed, it takes him time to trust strangers but once you have established a relationship, he is your best friend.
Brahms already knows basic commands- sit, down, stay, wait (for food and at doors), focus, here, crate and touch. He also has excellent recall. He is a loud player and grumbles when he is happy and getting butt rubs.
Brahams would do great in a home with experience with Rotties and large strong-willed breeds. He will need daily exercise in the form of walks or play time in the yard. He is crate trained, and part of his routine is that he stays in there when no one is home or when strangers come into the house. We have not noticed any resource guarding with toys or food, but he does prefer to be left alone during mealtimes. He plays fetch very politely and returns the ball as further evidence of no resource guarding.
Brahms had to overcome a traumatic past. He was found living on a balcony of an abandoned property when animal control finally seized him. His former owner had a lengthy record of neglect and cruelty. For two years, neighbors would hear Brahms barking through the night pushing an empty bowl. To make things worse, Brahms remained in the shelter system on court hold for two more years until he was released earlier this year.
Brahms is ready to start a new chapter in life as a cherished pet in a loving home. He is ready to be your loyal companion in return.
