Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This is fantastic Fanta! She was found outside with wounds on her backside, likely from being in a fight with another cat. Fanta is front declawed, so she has limited ways to defend herself. We're not sure how or why a declawed cat like herself made it to the outdoors, but it's a good thing she was found and brought to the shelter where it's safe. We like to think that Fanta was grateful too. Though, Fanta started out untrusting of people, and she was very upset and angry. Who can blame her, though? Her physical wounds have healed, and we'd like to think that her emotional wounds are starting to heal. Slowly but surely, Fanta has become more accepting and trusting of the staff: purring and enjoying being pet, even sitting on laps for attention! She's showing her sweet side. We're so happy to see that Fanta's behavior is gradually improving, and we know that her purrfect furever family is out there to welcome Fanta with open arms. We urge visitors to still be gentle and careful with Fanta, using a soft voice and respecting her boundaries. If she tells you "No", then she means it! Fanta isn't afraid to let people know how she's feeling, she just asks that they listen. For this reason, we think Fanta would do best in a home with an adult only family rather than one with children. A family who are experienced cat owners and are well-known in cat behavior would be beneficial too. Fanta would like to be the only cat in the home, that way she can be properly spoiled and treated like the queen of the castle! Fanta is looking forward to finding her loving, understanding forever home so she can fully relax and enjoy the rest of her days as a comfy and spoiled indoor cat. Fanta is currently on a special diet of Hills Science Diet brand z/d food, for a possible food allergy. If you have any questions about Fanta, feel free to ask a staff member. Come by the Humane Society to meet Fanta!
