My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Krypton, a bundle of joy and energy, perfect for a family looking for an adventurous companion. He weighs 24 pounds and likes car rides, running, toys, chase, wrestling, and darting from one fascinating thing to another. He tends to eventually wear himself out and is then ready to chill for a bit. He`s perfected being a lap dog and loves being petted. Krypton is crate trained and was on his way to being totally house trained in a previous home but it`s been a while. He may need more guidance. He knows his way around a leash, making outdoor adventures a breeze. In fact, his favorite adventure is when he can jump a fence and demonstrate what a great escape artist he is. He knows the sit and come commands. If he runs away while off leash, he`ll come back if you call him. He`s great with other dogs, always ready for a playful tumble and a bit of roughhousing but he is also respectful. We haven`t seen him interact with children yet and his tendency to be mouthy when being handled is certain ways is leading us to require that he live in an adult-only home. He thinks cats are for chasing. His curious and bouncy nature keeps every day exciting. Krypton loves to cuddle after a long day of play, making him the ideal snuggle buddy. If you`re looking for a loyal, loving, and very lively friend, Krypton is your perfect match! (tw 1/17/2026)

More about this shelter

Citizens For Animal Protection, founded in 1972, is committed to sheltering, rescuing, and placing homeless animals in loving homes; advocating respect and compassion for all animal life; providing humane education to prevent animal cruelty; and raising awareness in the community of the needs of animals.

CAP is proud to announce that through life-saving adoption and transfer programs and a lot of hard work, we have maintained a placement rate of over 93% for all homeless pets surrendered to our shelter in 2021. In 2021, CAP provided care for 10,260 animals; this includes animals surrendered by the public and transferred in from animal control agencies and rescue groups, animals already in the shelter and foster care program, feral cats trapped/neutered/returned and animals receiving vaccinations and other treatments in our low-cost vaccination clinic, The Cornelius Clinic.
