Part dog, part Pikachu? Those ears! ⚡ Meet the legend, Princess Zelda. This wiggly love bug greets everyone with pure joy and non stop tail wags. She loves pup cups and visiting her many fans because she makes friends everywhere she goes!

Zelda is smart and curious, with a big heart and an even bigger smile. She enjoys sniffy walks and brain games like puzzle feeders, lick mats, and long-lasting chews such as Nylabones, collagen rolls, or yak cheese. Her favorite thing, though, is affection from her people. She’ll happily flop over for belly rubs and snuggles. 💛

Zelda lives happily with another dog and a cat. She’s curious about the cat, who prefers some distance, but Zelda has been gentle and mostly just wants to sniff. Their introductions have been slow and positive, and they’re kept separate most of the time. She also shares her home with a senior dog; after trying to win him over with kisses and play, Zelda quickly learned to respect his space.

She’s housetrained, knows “sit,” and is very food-motivated, which makes training easy. On walks, she’s learned to stay calm when other dogs bark and now sits for treats instead.

Zelda was born with a congenital heart defect that was successfully repaired with surgery. 💖 Her prognosis is excellent. She may remain on a daily medication and will need periodic follow-ups, but she’s expected to live a long, happy life. Zelda is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations—ready to bring joy and love to her forever family.

Our adoption coordinators will reach out to you to connect you with our foster homes.

Take the Pet Home

After meeting with the foster home, they will coordinate with your on how best to deliver the pet to you once all steps have taken place.

You can meet some of our animals at our weekend adoption events, or we can arrange for a meeting in the foster home. If it’s a good match, the foster parent will come to visit your home in person. This is to make sure your home is safe and secure for a new companion animal.

More about this rescue

IAR started with one woman's big dreams, a bigger heart, and a very distinctive purple pickup truck that helped her rescue countless of unwanted, abused, and homeless Triangle pets. Originally founded in 1994, IAR earned an official 501(c)(3) status in 1995. We are governed by a Board of Directors, managed by elected officers, and introduced IAR’s first paid position, General Manager, in June 2021. This role will assist with elevating our collective compassion to new heights and strengthening IAR’s impact as a whole.

Our mission is to rescue and provide safe and responsible care for homeless, abandoned, and abused animals. We shall strive to help all animals in need through our service programs. We will serve our communities through promotion of spay/neuter for all companion animals, and the education of children and adults in humane care, respect and responsibility for animals on this earth.
