My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Phoenix!
Birthdate: 4/2/2023 ✨💖

A Phoenix is a legendary Arabian bird that burns to death and rises from the ashes anew. It represents resilience and strength; and once you hear my story, you’ll understand why this is my name.
I was found abandoned in a house, all alone. My previous owners had moved out nearly two months earlier, leaving me behind with no known source of food or water. Somehow, I managed to hang on, though I had lost a lot of weight. When I was finally rescued, I was so weak and thin that my foster mom was worried I might not make it.
At first, I wouldn’t eat more than a few bites of kibble, and my skin began turning yellow. A vet visit, with the amazing team at Green Lane Veterinary Clinic, revealed I had hepatic lipidosis, which is a serious liver condition often caused by sudden weight loss. I started medication, but it didn’t seem to help, and I still had no appetite. My foster and the wonderful veterinarian made the hard decision to place a feeding tube to try and save me. They warned that if I didn’t start improving within a few days, my little body might not recover.
But remember my name: Phoenix.
I wasn’t giving up.
With lots of care, syringe feedings around the clock, and endless love, I started to fight my way back. Within five days, I began nibbling food on my own. After a week, I was eating normally, and soon the tube was only needed for my meds. Two weeks later, my color returned, my energy came back, and my bloodwork came back perfect—my liver had healed!
Now I’m a healthy, happy girl who’s ready for my forever home. Through everything, I never stopped purring, not once. No hissing, no fighting, not even an annoyed flick of my tail. Just love and gratitude.
I enjoy tons of pets, attention, and the warmest cuddles. While I’ve tolerated other cats, I’d much prefer to be the only kitty in the home so I can soak up all the love and affection I missed out on before.
I’ve truly risen from the ashes, and now I’m ready to start my new life—with you. ❤️✨

Additional adoption info

During review of the application if you rent your home, we confirm with your landlord that you are allowed to have the cat per your lease.

We also consider if a particular cat is a good fit for your home. Certain cats will do better in homes without small children, or without other cats. Other cats may need to be adopted with a cat that they are bonded with. So we make sure that the cat and the home are a good match before completing an adoption.

Some of our fosters allow trial adoptions, where you would have 2-3 weeks to make sure that the cat being adopted was accepted by the other pets in your home. If you are interested in this, please ask your Adoption Representative.

All cats adopted from Stray Cat Blues have been screened for feline leukemia and FIV, inoculated, sterilized and wormed when they first come to us. Additional vet work is completed for those cats that require additional care. Healthy, adoptable cats and kittens are then housed through our network of foster homes until they are adopted.

You are also welcome to come visit cats at our PetSmart Collegeville and PetSmart North Wales/Montgomeryville locations (see times for adoption showings). If you see a cat there that you like, you can complete an adoption application there in person.

Questions - email us at: contact@straycatblues.org. We are happy to answer general questions, and also put you in touch with the foster families for questions about specific cats.

Adoption Fees:
• $150 - Kittens up to one year of age
• $100 - For cats over one year and up to 7 years of age
• $70 - For cats 7 years of age and over.
All fees are subject to Pennsylvania's 6% sales tax and a minimum of $5 or 5% service fee.
Fees for cats with special needs will be determined based upon circumstances and may result in a fee reduction.
