If you’re looking for a cat to keep you on your toes, keep you entertained, and demand all of the attention in the room, then Thumper is the right match for you. Born in a litter of kittens who all, except for him, presented with Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH), he has grown up with four rambunctious, wobbly siblings, who all do well to tolerate his energy. Despite not presenting with CH, Thumper does sometimes have balance problems, such as falling backwards when spooked. This doesn’t stop him from doing all the things any other cat does.
Thumper has not adjusted well to his new room of cats. He would thrive as an only cat OR with one other cat with an extended grace period. He grew up with his mom and siblings but adjusting to a room full of other cats has been a bit much for him.
Thumper is very affectionate, he loves people, is chatty and wants to be where his people are at. He will make a great companion kitty if you are looking for a loving kitty. Thumper is now 10 months old and has grown up in our rescue. He is more than ready to create a bond to his new mom or dad.

A Petfinder Inquiry is not the same as an application -
COMPLETED APPLICATIONS TAKE PRECEDENCE OVER INQUIRIES. If you are interested in adopting, the FIRST step is to complete an application.
If your application was successfully submitted you will get a generated confirmation email.
DO NOT SUBMIT AN APPLICATION IF YOU ARE NOT CURRENTLY READY TO ADOPT.
All of our animals are rescued and transported from South Mississippi where major animal overpopulation means less homes. We only transport them once adopted, in most instances, we can be available for a video call once an application has been approved.
WE PERSONALLY TRANSPORT OUR OWN adopted animals to meet their new families. We transport every 2-3 weeks.
We facilitate adoptions through our own internal transport to ensure the quality of care. We travel to VA, MD, PA, NJ, CT, VT, and NY. Our dogs travel in comfort with 24/7 care. We have been facilitating long distance adoptions since 2019.
***Breed input is required for each platform but is not guaranteed to be accurate. We do not DNA test. We rescue animals from different situations. We discuss breed assignments with our vets to label them as accurately as possible. ***
We are currently unable to adopt pets to ME and RI residents

More about this shelter
Dixie Adoptables is a 501c3 rescue, operating the Lucedale Animal Shelter in Lucedale, MS. We travel up to the north monthly with all of our adopted pets.
Dixie Adoptables is one of many shelters working to get animals out of the area where shelters are always full, and adoptions of the sweet babies are hard to come by. We are grateful to every person that chooses to adopt and give a home to a loving animal, whose only fault was being born in a part of the country where their value is underappreciated and spay/neuter is done far too infrequently.
