Just a baby
Okay so you are looking to add some puppy shenanigans to your life? Octacia is just that!
She is a tiny tot right now but there is no telling just how big or small she might be once she is full grown.
Socializing: Octavia is a friend to everybody. Being a puppy, she will need basic training and experiences to help her grow into a confident young lady. She is living with two of her siblings, three other dogs, two cats, and an abundance of puppy toys. She LOVES to play! Her tiny self can be pretty shy of other dogs at first and sticks to hanging out with her siblings so being separated from them will be an adjustment.
Crate training: She sleeps in a large crate with her two siblings during the night and in the daytime during work hours. She is happy to go in the crate on her own in exchange for a treat and she is pretty quiet while she is in there during routine hours. She spends time in there whenever her foster humans are not supervising her like a hawk so she can be vocal for these moments. Although she is great about keeping herself occupied with puppy toys rather than household items, its best to keep her safe in her crate while unsupervised.
Potty training: With a routine feeding and crate schedule, she is able to keep her crate dry during the night. She is still adjusting to the eight hour work day. Amongst playing with her siblings, sometimes she is looking for a toy she misplaced or looking for her next target to pop a squat. Accidents are subtle and quick but we get right up and go outside to finish her business. There have not been any poop accidents in the house She is amazing about going out in the cold wet grass without a fuss but takes a little encouragement of walking around the yard before she will follow.
Puppy stages: Its no surprise these babies are going to need some time and patience but all efforts go towards having the best companion! Occasionally she will chase your feet and chew on your fingers but with some redirection, positive reinforcement, basic training, they tend to grow out of this stage pretty quickly. You will need to establish the basics right away, form the expectation, and build on that as she grows! Puppy research and breed research would be a great idea before considering! All of the above information is based on our routine now. There may be some additional adjustments when transitioning to a new routine, a new environment, and life without her siblings.
Our favorite thing about this girl is her button eyes and her ability to melt you with them!
