My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lap-Cat!!  Meet dashing boy Lucky!  Lucky has a new, adorable video that shows him stretched out blissfully on his foster mom’s lap! Unfortunately, the radio was on so loudly that I had to silence the audio. You can’t hear Lucky’s wonderful, deep purrs.

At first, Lucky was so frightened when he arrived at our rescue. (Lucky had been abandoned at a motel).  He curled up in a ball and would softly cry to himself. But once he got to a foster home, Lucky quickly became comfortable and warmed up to the friendly humans. Lucky is so responsive to pets and affection. He loves to stretch out on his foster mom’s lap and bask in all of the kind attention. Handsome Lucky is happy to be your loyal lap warmer for as long as you’d like, his deep purr keeping you company. Lucky also prances around and flops onto his side, asking for snuggles. It has been a joy to watch this fearful kitty blossom as he feels safe and loved.

Are you up for a special situation, helping Lucky continue to gain more confidence and trust in his people? If so, fill out a no-obligation adoption application at the Forgotten Cats website and then ask to speak with me, his foster mom. I would love to tell you about precious Lucky and answer any questions!

When I stop into his bedroom, Lucky stretches out his front paws and then happily greets me at the door. He can’t wait for me to sit in the comfy chair or climb onto the bed. Lucky steps onto my lap, stretching, tucking his head, rolling around. One huge benefit of helping a cat learn to trust and love people is that he will become closely bonded with you and be your devoted companion for life. Lucky will keep you cozy, cuddly company! Be sure to watch his video. Please check it out:

Update Nov. 11:   Lucky continues to become more outgoing, making steady progress. After first learning to trust his foster mom, Lucky welcomes pets and attention from his foster dad. Now I will move Lucky to a larger room for him to explore and become comfortable in. We are enjoying helping this happy boy! So … Lucky has been in the new bedroom for two days and he is already loving it, out and about investigating and spending time with his humans.

Update Nov. 22: Lucky now enjoys venturing out in the hallway. He even decided to stop in to meet another foster cat. Lucky is gaining confidence quickly.

Update on Dec. 3: Lucky keeps hitting new milestones. He now enjoys lap time and playtime with two new people, both men, in addition to his foster mom. Lucky has really “come out of his shell” and thoroughly enjoys time with his people. Lucky would be fine in a home with older children, but young children may be too loud and unpredictable for him at this point. Lucky also loves to play. He enjoys chasing a wand toy and batting little balls and toys in his room. Lucky seems very content. Never fusses or cries.

Please check out his video:  https://www.youtube.com/shorts/KmZ67wDetjw .

Spending time with Lucky has been so rewarding as he makes progress on his way to being adopted into a loving home. Could that home be yours?

Please submit our no-obligation Adoption Application for a meet and greet or to adopt:  https://forgottencats.org/adoption-application/.  Not ready to adopt?  Please consider fostering:  https://forgottencats.org/foster-a-cat/.   Thank you!  (Foster:  Laurie B)

More about this rescue

Founded in 2003, Forgotten Cats, Inc. is the leading trap, neuter, vaccinate, return (TNVR) nonprofit in the region. Servicing Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New Jersey, Forgotten Cats specializes in TNVR in order to humanely reduce the homeless cat population. Valuing all lives, Forgotten Cats is a no kill organization.

Forgotten Cats’ TNVR services involve working with colony caregivers to identify all cats within a colony, after which we trap, transport, sterilize, vaccinate, recuperate, and return feral cats to caregivers. Our goal is to stabilize each colony and ensure zero population growth. We achieve this by trapping and sterilizing every single cat in the entire colony.

About 20 percent of the cats that enter our clinics each year are not feral. Stray cats, or homeless domesticated cats, and feral kittens under 12 weeks old, are held and placed into our adoption network. With ten off-site adoption centers, our dedicated staff and volunteers work hard to prepare our cats for adoption and ensure they go to loving, forever homes.

Forgotten Cats serves the community by offering affordable TNVR services, low cost spay/neuter services for pet & stray cats, and spay/neuter education.

Forgotten Cats has over 700 volunteers that are committed to helping this organization fulfill its mission. We receive no government funding, and depend solely on private donations, grants, fundraising events, and bequests to complete our mission.

Since 2003, Forgotten Cats has sterilized over 200,000 cats across the region, which has prevented the birth and suffering of millions of kittens. Additionally, we have placed over 14,000 cats into loving, forever homes. At our no-kill clinic/shelters, we welcome the FIV+ & FeLV+ cats, the blind, the 3-legged, the lost, those that have been abused, and those that have been abandoned. We offer love and hope to the Forgotten Cats from all walks of life.

Vision:
We envision a day when kittens are no longer born on the streets but rather in loving homes to responsible owners.

Mission:
Our mission is to humanely reduce the homeless cat population and to stop the suffering of the thousands of kittens born to abandoned, homeless cats.

Not quite sure you are ready to be a full-time cat parent? Please consider our foster program! You can care for a cat/kitten for as little as two days, a couple of weeks, or longer. It's up to you. Please contact us! https://forgottencats.org/foster-a-cat/
