My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you loved Chance from Homeward Bound, you're going to adore Bernadette! This charming gal has that same lovable, slightly goofy energy that made us all fall for the clumsy bulldog in the movie. Bernie is all heart, enthusiasm, and endearing goofiness wrapped up in one adorable package.
Bernie is genuinely nice. Sure, she might be a little clumsy or goofy in her excitement, but that's all part of her charm! She doesn't take herself too seriously, and neither should you. This girl is food-motivated in the best way possible. Hand her a bully stick and watch her face light up. It's her absolute favorite treat, and she'll happily settle in for a good chew session. Bully sticks aren't just treats for Bernie; they're a lifestyle.
Bernie also absolutely loves going on walks. Whether it's a casual stroll around the block or a longer adventure, Bernie is always ready to hit the pavement with her favorite human. Walks are where Bernie really shines, trotting along with that classic bully breed wiggle and stopping to investigate all the good smells.

More about this rescue

Highland Lakes Canine Rescue was founded in 1999 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization by a group of folks who wanted to rescue homeless dogs from the Central Texas region and care for their health, rehabilitation and then to ultimately find these dogs a forever home uniting them with a newly adopted family. Initially HLCR started out as a foster only organization but over the 17 years has grown into it's own location with a kennel facility, outdoor pens, walking trails and staff and resident caretaker. An active and passionate group of staff and volunteers works tirelessly supporting HLCR and its mission.
