My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there… I’m Sadie. I’m a 5-year-old lady with a tender heart who’s been through some big changes. I was surrendered to the shelter, and to be honest, it’s been a little scary for me. I’m shy by nature — the kind of cat who prefers to observe the world from a safe, cozy spot before deciding it’s okay to join in. Some might call me stand-offish, but really, I’m just careful. I like to take my time getting to know people, and I appreciate gentle voices and quiet moments. Once I realize I’m safe, I’ll start to show you my softer side — slow blinks, tiny purrs, and maybe even a head bump or two when I’m feeling brave. I’m looking for a calm, patient home where I can be loved at my own pace. No rushing, no pressure — just kindness, understanding, and maybe a nice window to watch the world go by. If you’re someone who believes that the best relationships are built on trust and time, then maybe you and I are meant to be.

The Windsor/Essex County Humane Society was founded in 1926 and incorporated in 1949. The Humane Society has a publicly-tendered contract with the City of Windsor to provide animal control and basic shelter services in the City.
