This helps Malinois and Dutch Shepherd Rescue, Inc. with pet care costs.
Meet Sammy — the calm, loyal Malinois with the softest heart.
At 5 years old and 75 lbs, Sammy is the rare Malinois who truly has an off switch. He’s just as content curled up at your feet while you work from home as he is sprinting after his beloved ball or joining you on a weekend adventure. Playful when invited, peaceful when resting — Sammy is the definition of adaptable.
House Manners That Shine
Sammy is fully house trained and crate trained, and quite literally one of the easiest fosters we’ve ever had.
Day one in the crate? No whining, no barking.
In the kitchen? He quietly lays down like a polite sous chef.
Around the house? He follows his people gently, wanting to belong without demanding constant attention.
He settles beautifully on his own, rides well in the car, and has a wonderful ability to match the energy of the room.
Dog & People Socialization
With other dogs, Sammy is neutral, polite, and naturally submissive. He warms up slowly, then engages comfortably and appropriately.
With people, his story is more tender. Sammy came from an abusive past, so he needs slow, patient introductions with new faces. Once he trusts you, though?
You become his person, and he loves with his whole heart.
Training
Sammy is learning quickly and already responds to:
sit
down
paw
kennel
drop
recall
On leash he can pull a bit on a flat collar but is improving. His biggest training focus: excited greeting jumps toward his favorite person — something he’s actively working on.
Why Sammy Is So Special
Fantastic house manners
True “off switch” uncommon for the breed
Loves fetch — ball = instant confidence boost
Great solo settler
Excellent in the car (crated or free)
Gentle snuggler and world-class napper
Ideal Home
Sammy will thrive in a calm adult home or one with older dog-savvy teens. While he does well with our toddler under close supervision, we do not recommend homes with very young or busy children, Sammy needs careful introductions and loves his "own" space.
He needs a family committed to patience, structure, and trust-building. And in return?
You get a once-in-a-lifetime dog — loyal, soft, steady, and devoted.
From heartbreak to love....
Sammy was once tied to a tree and abandoned… yet he still chooses love. Every day.
He’s not just looking for a home —He’s looking for his person.
Will you be his person? Let us know!
All MAD dogs come with a Fi Collar and 6 month subscription.
