My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Benji came to us as a stray with a broken leg and weighs about 27 pounds. Things to know about Benji is that he will give you the sass you’ve always been looking for in a dog to keep you in check while loving you dearly at the same time. He has a bit of wariness with strangers but also gets offended if they don`t to say hi to him when they walk by. Benji is a decent walker for our volunteers with a refined palette for treats. While he gets easily distracted from mediocre treats, he will take any opportunity to be a lap dog once he trusts you. Which is great since he has some of the softest fur you’ll find in a short coated dog! And if you need a motivator, Benji is eager to keep up with you on a morning walk while you get in shape for the new year.

Meet the Pet

If you decide on the pet you meet, they will be put in for a pre-adoption vet check. It can take up to a week for your pet to come home.

So you’re ready to add a family member to your home! Well you’re at the right place! To begin, you can view our animals available for adoption online, but there’s nothing like the real thing. We welcome you to come to our shelter and spend some time getting to know our animals in person.

To start off, please review the adoption guidelines below to speed up the adoption process:

1. Applicants must be at least 21 years old.

2. All adoption applications must be filled out completely.

3. An adoption application must be completed before any animal can be taken out for a visit. No animal will be taken out for a visit prior to this time.

4. You will need picture ID, with name and current address, to photo copy onto your application.

5. Any animal on a HOLD cannot be taken out for a visit until its holding time is up and it is available for adoption.

6. All dogs MUST be licensed with your Town prior to leaving the CNYSPCA, ask adoption counselor for further details.
