Reese is a 10-month-old, 44-lb Shepherd mix who came to the shelter as a stray on 10/30. She is a sweet, medium-sized girl who is gentle, treat-motivated, and easy to handle.
Reese is a little timid and shy, but with patience she builds confidence quickly. She knows “sit” and takes treats gently. She enjoys running and exploring in the play yard and responds well to positive interactions.
Handling and kennel behavior: Reese walks nicely on leash with no pulling and has no issues being leashed or unleashed. She is willing to come out of and return to her kennel without hesitation and shows neutral, calm body language when walking through the kennel.
Social behavior: In the yard, Reese displays neutral to loose body language, sometimes with her tail low or tucked, pacing, and exploring rather than seeking attention. She may not come when called initially but is curious and enjoys sniffing and exploring.
Dog interactions: Reese has been tested with both male and female dogs. She tends to be cautious, displaying stiff body language and avoidance with other dogs. No bites were attempted. She would do best in a home without dogs or with calm, patient dogs who respect her boundaries.
Reese would thrive in a calm, consistent home where she can gain confidence and feel safe. With patience and gentle guidance, she can become a loving and loyal companion.
As with any new pet, we recommend following the 3-3-3 guideline when helping Reese settle into her new home: 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to learn the routine, and 3 months to feel fully at home.
