My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Andy is at our shelter. Please submit an application from our website or just come in to meet him during open hours!

Andy’s journey started in Texas, being cared for by one of our rescue partners before making the long journey to Chicago. This young pup has already been through a lot, but you’d never know it from the way his tail wags and his beautiful eyes sparkle when he meets someone new.

Andy is everyone's best buddy (as you can see)! He is the Mayor of the kennel! He is our perfect helper dog, meaning he is a dog who gets along with any dog and who we use to test our other dogs with. He is so much fun to watch in playgroup and happy to hang with any of his pals, any time, whether it is romping around and running up and down the agility equipment or chilling on the couch or in his kennel.

He’s playful, curious, and full of life — the kind of dog who reminds you to slow down, laugh more, and enjoy the little things. Whether he’s chasing a ball, curling up for a nap, or trotting proudly by your side, Andy does it all with joy and love.

Andy still has some puppy habits and needs to be redirected at times, but it is silly mischief like getting into the bin with all of the dog sweaters and coats and tossing them all around the room! When Andy is in puppy mode, we simply shout, "Andrew!!!" and he stops. No but seriously, we do call him Andrew when needed, but he is also very re-directable and super treat motivated, so easy to train! Andy already knows sit and down! He has mastered them, and is so proud when he gets to show off his tricks.

Andy has fun wherever he goes, and he always makes the best of things. Winter storm? Andy is the first to be out in it, pouncing happily in the snow. Being from Texas, we know this is his first winter in the Midwest and he is handling it like a champ! He's a Splash Dog regular - he has the best time swimming around chasing toys, and jumping in and out of the pool. He even doesn't mind dress up - he will happily accept a sweater or hoodie to wear and he looks handsome in them, too.

Andy is a young pup who has come of age in a shelter, albeit he is now in a very nice one! But he is very ready to hang up his shelter dog hat and trade in that life for a home where he can finally settle in and be loved.

Andy’s adoption fee is $300. This animal is neutered, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
