Dog name: Birdie May
Breed: Hound Mix
Sex: Female
Age: About 10 months old
Weight: 30-ish pounds
Medical Needs: UTD on vaccines and spayed already.
Housebroken: Birdie May is schedule trained. We’ve been diligent with her potty breaks, food and water schedule. She is learning her place in the home and no longer counter surfs, and she understands the Christmas tree is for ambiance and not a chew toy. We’ve been working on basic manners and she’s doing well. Birdie is very treat motivated and is a quick learner.
Crate trained: Work in progress. She isn’t a huge fan, she will bark initially and then settle down. We use puppy pads overnight and when we leave for extended periods of time. With her schedule we have seen less accidents. She will bark in her crate if she needs to go potty. But doesn’t bark in the house when she needs to go.
Good in the car: Yes, but we always keep her in a buckle or the crate.
Good on a leash: Working on it. If there’s a loud noise, she’ll freak out until I calm her down. This girl has give me grey hair. She’s small but mighty and wants to pull you everywhere but we are working on it.
Energy level: She is a puppy and has the puppy energy at first but definitely understands the vibe of the other dogs and is learning play is for outside and inside means we relax, snuggle, and work on our commands.
Need a fenced in yard: Highly Recommended unless you have hours to devote to walking.
Dog Friendly: Yes! Birdie exudes confidence when she’s with other dogs and is currently fostered with 7 other dogs of various sizes and breeds.
Does she need an another dog in the home? Yes! Highly recommend that she has a buddy. Birdie was very shy initially but has come around so much with the other dogs leading the way.
Cat Friendly? Yes
Kid Friendly: Yes! She is fostered with a 7 year old and she adores him.
If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Any with proper supervision and boundaries in place.
Traits that make your foster special:
Birdie Mae is a sweet girl who is looking for the perfect place to call home. She’s eager to please and will flip her long neck back, batting her adorable little eyes at you, in hopes you’ll scratch her head or give her some treats. She has all the adorable traits that puppies have but most of the hard work is done. She’s lovable, enjoys snuggles and dog piles and dancing around the kitchen with her people.
