In early August 2025, SoCo Rescue was contacted by the Wheeler Co., GA Sheriff's Department and asked to assist in the removal of a number of puppies and dogs after their owners had been arrested for animal abuse/neglect charges. Once he arrived at the scene, Scott Bennett met with both deputies and officers from the GA Dept of Agriculture. Among the number of dogs living in horrible conditions, there were also "approximately 50 chickens" inside the small single-wide mobile home. SoCo Rescue was able to assist by taking in five young pups, two older pups and the mom to the younger litter.
Buster was found tied to a tree without any shelter from the elements and no evidence of food or water present. Looking very thin and hungry, Buster welcomed our help and immediately displayed his very friendly, playful personality. During his time at our rescue, he has interacted very well with other dogs and loves playing with them. He's also picked up on new routines rather quickly, signs that he'll be easy to train. Despite the neglect that he suffered, Buster has a great love of people.
Buster has now been neutered, received an update on all of his annual vaccinations, de-wormings and monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. While he is accustomed to staying in a crate, he will need additional house training. He does enjoy his time outside and a home that allows him plenty of time and space will be best.
