My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Currently located at our Owensboro, KY location

Meet your new best friend and adventure buddy: Matilda!

Matilda is our bossy, playful, and loving girl! She gets along well with other dogs. True to her hound nature, she tends to be more dominant leaning with her puppy pals!

Matilda loves everyone she meets (including children), except for cats! She needs a cat free home.

Matilda is potty trained and knows sit. With her intelligence, we know she can learn a lot more in her forever home!

All of our dogs are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped and spayed or neutered.

More about this shelter

It Takes A Village Rescue, Inc. is a non-kill 501(c)(3) rescue dedicated to doing what it takes to find loving homes for stray, abandoned, and surrendered animals, and to keep these animals safe and free from further suffering. Our mission is "To work as one in helping homeless animals irrespective of breed, location or circumstance." By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, veterinarians and partner rescues or shelters, we are able to rescue countless animals every year and provide them with loving temporary care as we work to find them well-matched forever homes. Although we do not discriminate based on breed, size or color, we have a particular interest in bully breeds, special medical needs, senior dogs, black dogs and other hard-to-place animals.
