Kona #2 | 5-month-old German Shepherd/Lab Mix | A Sweet, Cuddly Ball of Energy
Meet Kona — a 5-month-old German Shepherd/Lab mix who’s as adorable as she is affectionate. At about 28 pounds, this black beauty is pure puppy charm: curious, playful, and full of love. Despite her early start in life — being left at a shelter with her siblings at just three months old — Kona’s happy, loving personality shines through. She’s ready to begin her next chapter with a forever family who will adore her.
Kona is making great progress with house training and responds well to consistent outdoor potty breaks. The leash is a new (and slightly scary) concept for her but will thrive with gentle guidance and positive experiences.
She’s currently living with several other puppies and gets along beautifully with all of them. Kona loves other dogs and knows how to respect those who aren’t in the mood to play. She’s curious about cats, though mostly cautious, and respects the boundaries the cats have set. Kona hasn’t met children yet, but her gentle, affectionate nature suggests she would do wonderfully with kids who understand how to play with a lively puppy.
This little girl is your typical go-go-go puppy who loves playtime and cuddles equally. With training and time, she’ll grow into a fantastic walking, hiking, or running companion.
Kona’s ideal home would include a yard to explore and an adopter ready to provide consistent love, attention, and positive guidance. Smart, eager to please, and full of potential, Kona is ready to become a beloved member of her forever family!
If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.
The adoption fee for this pet is $450 (includes a $50 refundable puppy training deposit). Our adoption fee covers the following:
Spay/neuter
Microchip
DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.
Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.
Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption.
Please fill out an adoption application by clicking here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process!
Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls.
PLEASE NOTE: The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter. Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets. Here is some interesting info on breed identification: https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/
Our adoption process is:
1. Fill out our Adoption Application online. We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet.
2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting. Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!
