I'm fostering Maximus, a mix who was rescued from the euthanasia list at Harris County by BAMM Rescue from Oregon. BAMM is open to a rescue-to-rescue transfer if a rescue can take him into their program.
Maximus has had a tough road but remains a sweet and expressive dog who enjoys attention, going for walks, and exploring the yard. He is crate-trained and takes great baths.
Behavior-wise, he does well with some dogs but not all, so introductions should be done carefully. He is gentle with people but he cannot live with cats.
Medically, he has completed all three heartworm injections, but has permanent heart damage, which has led to heart failure. He also has masses in the perianal and penile region. Because of his medical issues, Maximus is considered a "fospice" or compassionate care case. We are seeking a special adopter or foster who understands they would be his person for the remainder of his life, guiding him through his final chapter with love & comfort.
