If you see pets listed by a private owner, it means that they’re adoptable through Adopt a Pet’s Rehome program – the safe and reliable way to find a loving new home for your pet.
Honey is a 10-year-old rescue from Kansas City. We've had her since she was just a few months old, and she moved to Rockville with us in 2021. She is a very loving and cuddly dog. Her favorite thing to do is snuggle on the couch or make a nest in our bed while we are at our desks nearby.
The only reason we are considering re-homing her is that she's having a hard time adjusting to our toddler, and we have another baby on the way. We've tried our best, but she's visibly stressed around him, even in controlled settings, and we worry it's affecting her quality of life keeping her separate from the family all the time. She also has a tendency to resource guarding (mostly of things from around the house that she collects in her bed). It's very manageable for adults who understand how to interact with a dog, but we worry it's potentially dangerous for our son, who is autistic.
Honey would thrive and have lots of love to give in a home with experienced dog owners who want a couch buddy!
