My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

HI, I`m Prince! I was found as a stray in Monroe in Sept. 2025 & was never reclaimed. I know I may look scary but really, I`m a big baby! The shelter is a stressful environment so I can get overly excited when I first go on walks but once I`m out & enjoy nature, I do great! I walk well on leash & love spending time with the volunteers & staff. I also enjoy other dogs & listen to their cues very well. I hope my forever family finds me soon!

More about this shelter

The GCHS is comprised of an estimated 500 members, dedicated shelter staff, volunteers, board of directors, and a growing network of foster homes. Due to the commitment of these people, the GCHS has gone from a 62% kill rate in 1999 to a NO-KILL status. Our mission includes:
. Promoting compassionate and appropriate treatment of animals throughout Green and Lafayette Counties.
. Realizing the need to educate the general public in areas of animals' care, especially the need for spaying and neutering of animals to prevent further overpopulation.
. Diligently assisting law enforcement and the general public in the effort to end animal abuse.
. Devoted to the search for quality homes for every adoptable animal that comes into the shelter.
GCHS is dedicated to expanding the knowledge of and protection of animals we share our lives and world with.
