My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you have ever wondered what an angel in fur looks like, look no further than Coquette. So sweet and petite, Coquette weighs 9-lbs (she has gained 3-lbs since being pulled from the shelter) and is approximately 14-years old. She was very sick with pneumonia and was hospitalized for a month, but she is out of the hospital and is thriving in her foster home.

Coquette gets along with dogs, cats and kids, and her favorite thing to do is sleep. She also loves to eat and to snuggle. She is very quiet and ever so special.

Coquette currently requires supplements and subq fluids every few days for kidney disease. She also needs several lifelong eye medications. Coquette has a bladder stone which we will remove once she is stable enough.

We are cuckoo for Coquette, and once you meet her you will be too.

Coquette is spayed, up to date on shots, fully vetted, and microchipped.

Adoption process includes application, interview, home visit, contract and donation. If you are interested in Coquette, please go to our website and fill out an application.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Each potential adopter of any animal is required to go through an adoption process that includes an application, contract and interview with one or more of our members. We make sure the potential adopter is aware of the medical, training and social needs of the animal; whether it is a growing puppy or an older animal. If the individual is approved, we will perform a home check to make sure that animal is going to a safe and good environment. The adopter agrees to return the animal to us at any point during their lifetime if they intend to give it up. We are committed to finding these animals great homes and screen our applicants very carefully.

More about this rescue

Thousands of animals are euthanized each year in the Los Angeles City Shelters. This staggering figure does not even include all other surrounding LA County shelters. Most of these animals were highly adoptable and have something in common: they have medical conditions such as broken legs, tumors, eye problems, skin issues or illness. These animals have been hit by cars, abused, or suffered serious neglect, or they are abandoned mothers with litters of unweaned puppies.

These shelter animals face an uncertain future. H.E.L.P assists adopters who are interested in a sick, elderly or injured shelter animal, but are discouraged by the potential high veterinary costs. We also assist individuals who adopt from the shelters and discover that their animal has a medical condition after adoption. We arrange for the animal to receive veterinary care and offer financial assistance to the adopter. If the adopter has already arranged for the animal to receive medical care, we reimburse the costs upon receipt of the veterinary bill and proof of treatment.
