Seely is our miracle baby! After a few months of normal kitten hood, his body stopped properly processing his food into waste. . . nothing was moving, and no treatments were helping. He clearly felt just awful, and we were beside ourselves trying to figure out how to save his life. He was finally taken to a university hospital that caught on to the rare condition he was experiencing. . . Seely is hypothyroid! While hyperthyroid is fairly common in adult cats, a hypothyroid kitten is almost unheard of. The thyroid controls so much of the body’s function that this explains why his bowels were not functioning as they should; his body had “slowed down” to a halt. Once he was put on medication to supplement his thyroid hormones, the blockage was cleared. and Seely made a RAPID recovery! He was watched closely in foster care, and truly, if you didn’t know he was being given medication, you would never know he had a health issue.
Seely is extremely charismatic and cute. He saw many vets while in treatment, and all the veterinary staff fawned over him! He is friendly, playful, adventurous, silly, very cuddly, and his facial expression is especially adorable, sure to fill your camera roll on a constant basis. He loves wand toys, jingly balls, and learning to climb. He also loves to wrestle with his bonded sister, Evie!
Seely does have medical needs, but they are very simple. He needs mealtimes to control when his stomach is empty, and he needs the thyroid medication on an empty stomach. He is very used to being given a pill, but the pill can be crushed and mixed with water if you are uncomfortable with pilling. Timed auto feeders could easily take care of the mealtime issue!
We have given Seely the love of a family with Catsnap, but we know what he truly wants is his own person who will take him into their heart forever. His care might take just a little extra effort, but he has so much to offer his people. He looks forward to purrs, naps, snuggles, and lots of playtime!
