My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Lucy—a silky-soft sweetheart with a gentle soul and a flair for the dramatic (in the cutest way). I’m about 6 to 7 months old, weigh 30 pounds, and I’m spayed, vaccinated, and heartworm negative. I’m a solid medium-sized girl who probably won’t get much bigger, and yes, you can scoop me up with ease.

When I see someone I love, I do a little tappy-foot dance that’ll melt your heart. I’m smart as a whip and picked up house training quickly. I love routine—especially bedtime—and I sleep soundly through the night in the bedroom, curled up at the foot of the bed like a respectful little snugglebug. I’m affectionate but not clingy, happy to chill while you go about your day.

I get along beautifully with everyone—big dogs, tiny dogs, cats—you name it. I did come into rescue skin and bones, so I can bark at other dogs if they get too close to my food, but I’ve never been aggressive. Just give me a little space at mealtime and I’m golden. I haven’t been around kids yet, but I’m so gentle, I think I’d do just fine.

I’m currently in Myrtle Beach, SC, but I can travel to the right home (transport may fees apply). If you’re looking for a graceful, loving companion with a heart full of gratitude and a soft spot for bedtime routines, I’m your girl.

Go meet their pets

Our adoptable dogs are all in various foster homes and can be met by contacting rescue. Rescue will then provide foster home's contact information. Meet and greets will be arranged between foster and potential adopters. We also have adoption events at Petsmart on various dates which can be checked on our Facebook page, Operation Save a Shelter Dog.

More about this rescue

Our Mission

Operation Save A Shelter Dog is a foster based, IRS-recognized 501c(3) rescue whose mission is to work with shelters on the East Coast by saving dogs at high risk of euthanasia or that have little hope of adoption in their current condition. Not only is it our goal to find furever homes for our dogs, but also to educate the public on the importance of spaying, neutering, vaccinating and providing preventative care for their pets.
