Meet Roxy — Our Hidden Gem

Meet Roxy, a breathtaking brindle beauty with a heart as big as her smile. Around 3 years old, this confident and charismatic girl came to us after being surrendered to a North Jersey shelter. Despite a difficult start, Roxy has proven to be resilient, joyful, and full of love—and we truly can’t understand why she’s still waiting.

Roxy is one of our longest residents, and it’s time her story changes.

She is a large, strong girl with a moderate energy level and a wonderful balance of playfulness and affection. Roxy loves running in the yard, playing fetch, and enjoying life, but she’s equally content curling up with her people once the fun is done. She forms deep, meaningful bonds and is incredibly loving and loyal to those she trusts—once she chooses you, you are her person.

Roxy has successfully completed a Board and Train program and absolutely thrived—earning the nickname “teacher’s pet.” She’s eager to please, enjoys structure, and would flourish in a home that continues reinforcing her training and confidence.

Roxy is dog-tolerant, and if there is already a pet in the home, a meet-and-greet would be required to ensure a good match. Because of her size and strength, she’s best suited for a home with older children. A fenced yard where she can stretch her legs and play would be a dream come true.

Roxy is loving. She’s loyal. She’s fun. And she has so much to give. All she’s missing is someone willing to see past the length of her stay and recognize the incredible companion standing right in front of them.

If you’re looking for a devoted best friend who will love you with her whole heart, Roxy is ready—and she’s been waiting.

***Update:  Roxy has completed her professional training and was in a temporary foster home over the holiday weekend.  She was amazing, so well-behaved, and so happy to be in a home.  Sadly, she is now back at the kennel and is very sad and down.  Please...this girl is a wonderful dog and we want so badly to help her find that lucky person or family to call her own.  Please apply to adopt Roxy at bfdaaa.com. If your application is a possible match, a volunteer will get back to you shortly.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Just contact us at rescueridgeshelter@gmail.com, or call us at 732-681-3450, and we will be happy to provide you with an adoption application and, upon review of personal reference checks, vet checks, and possibly home visits, you may be chosen as a permanent home for that special companion. Please note that filling out an application does NOT automatically approve anyone for a specific adoption. We want to assure that the companion and adoptive family are each going to benefit from the adoption, and that it is as permanent an adoption as possible. We ask for help through donations to help cover the costs associated with keeping the companions up-to-date on vaccinations and spay/neuter programs. We request a donation of $100 for cats, and $200 - $400 for dogs, depending on the specific rescue. We are a tax-exempt organization so that any donation you make to Rescue Ridge is tax deductible, and all costs go directly to all of the animals we rescue.

More about this rescue

Rescue Ridge is a 'last-chance' rescue. Staffed 100% through the efforts and donations of volunteers, we find homes for animals that other shelters and people have given up on. Through the kindness of various boarding kennels and foster families, rescued animals are cared for until they find that final family to love them.

Rescue Ridge began by rescuing healthy, beautiful, animals that were slated to be euthanized through no fault of their own. We felt it was unfair, that because their 'humans' had no more use for them, their days were numbered. We have tried to give each and every one of these companions a new lease on life. We rescued dogs, cats, horses and any other animal that we were able to help with our limited resources. And since we have limited space, we are always searching for those willing to help foster these wonderful creatures. We are always happy to provide information on options available to anyone needing to re-home their pet for whatever reason. It is our belief that education regarding pet ownership and its responsibilities is the best hope these companions have. You will have unending rewards when you give a second chance to one of these wonderful friends. They truly are the champions of giving unconditional love.
