This helps Michele's Rescue with pet care costs.
Bojangles was found barely alive after ingesting rat poison, and his journey has been nothing short of heartbreaking.
While the emergency treatment revived him, he still had another battle to conquer. Bojangles was also found with defective back legs, making it difficult to walk. Michele’s Rescue stepped in to save him from euthanasia, and we’ve been fighting to give him a chance at life.
While special braces were made to help bend his legs into a normal position, but it wasn't enough and his legs weakened further. Thankfully, a specialist at Blue Pearl Vet Hospital has given us hope. Bojangles’ tendons are too short/tight, and his hip sockets are underdeveloped, but with the right treatment, he can still thrive!
We took him to a specialist at Purdue University Vet Hosipital - they performed a CT scan and uncovered that this knee joint is not developed and his calf muscle is pulling his ankle at the abnormal angle. Additionally, he has hip displasia.
Purdue University will perform the 1st leg surgery on February 9 (actual treatment will be determined during surgery)- his foster mom will be by his side through his recovery and will bring him back to Grand Rapids when he is well enough to travel. His 2nd leg surgery is anticipated to be 8 - 10 weeks later. We are optimistic Bojangles will have a more mobile life with reduced disability-related complications as he ages..
