My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sweet Maisie is a 6-year-old, 36# Border Collie with a heart as gentle as her big brown eyes. She is the perfect mid-sized companion and enjoys cuddling, walks, and hanging with her people. Affectionate and friendly with everyone she meets. She greets visitors politely and loves being part of the family without being clingy.

Getting out and about is important for Maisie– she has medium energy and wants to stay active. She’s always ready for a stroll or her shift on patrol in the backyard. Once in the house, she is well-behaved and easy to live with. When it’s time to relax, Maisie is right there beside you on the couch, happy to soak up some affection.

For a relative newbie to walking on leash, Maisie is doing very well. Squirrels will always catch her eye, but she can be redirected while out on a walk. Watching squirrels from inside the house or monitoring their movements in the yard is her favorite pastime. #1 on her wish list is a fenced yard where she can safely indulge her favorite hobby. Because of her squirrel fixation, we feel a cat-free home would be best for Maisie.

Maisie is good with other dogs and meets them politely on walks. She would enjoy a canine roommate or could be an only dog. She’s not too interested in toys yet, except for a good chew bone. She’s learning that car rides can be fun. She is trustworthy loose in the house. She would rather not spend much time in her kennel.

Maisie is a smart, gentle soul who’s learning the world can be a safe and happy place. She’s building confidence every day and would thrive with a family that enjoys peaceful walks, quiet companionship, and plenty of love. Older kids would likely suit her just fine. With her good manners, loving nature, and kind heart, Maisie is ready to bring warmth and joy to her forever home.

Maisie is being fostered in Richfield, MN.

APPLY TO ADOPT Maisie at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt

As a foster-based rescue, we do not have a central facility to visit. Meet and greets with specific dogs are arranged once your adoption application (not an inquiry through Petfinder) has been received, processed, and approved. We are located in Minnesota and adopt to an area 400 miles from Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Maisie's adoption fee is $450 + MN sales tax. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on age-appropriate vaccines. All of our dogs go to their new homes with a collar and harness, leash, starter food, blanket, favorite toys & treats. They are current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.

More about this rescue

Heart of a Border Collie Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit with foster homes in the Twin Cities, Duluth and other locations in the Midwest. We are dedicated to the rehoming of Border Collies, Border Collie mixes and other herding breeds in need of help in Minnesota, the Dakotas and neighboring states.
