My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Arwen – A Brave Mom with a Heart of Gold 💕

Arwen has known her share of challenges, but this beautiful girl’s gentle spirit has never faded. Rescued after surviving a rough life outdoors, Arwen devoted herself to caring for her kittens and keeping them safe until help arrived. Now that her babies are grown and adopted, it’s finally her turn to be loved and cared for.

This lovely older lady has blossomed into a calm, affectionate companion who enjoys soft beds, quiet moments, and gentle pets. She may be a little reserved at first, but once she feels safe, her trust and gratitude shine through in the sweetest ways.

Arwen is ready for a peaceful home where she can relax and enjoy the comfort she’s always deserved — no more worries, just love and warmth.

Could you be the one to give this deserving mama her happy ending?

Apply online—or stop by the Humane Society Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 AM to 5 PM. We can’t wait for you to meet this sweet, deserving girl!

More about this shelter

The Appalachian Highlands Humane Society is a private non-profit 501(c)3 charitable organization dedicated to the welfare of all animals. We do not receive public or government funding, and no monies from national humane organizations or county, state or federal government funds. Our work depends solely on grants, fundraisers, adoptions, private funding, memberships and donations. The fees collected from the adoption of each animal help to offset some of the costs involved in providing care for the animals and preparing an animal for placement into a new home. We value every animal equally and consider all to be priceless
