Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Morrone, our delightful, wiggly bundle of joy! This playful pup is all about fun—whether it’s romping around or showing off his tricks for tasty treats! Morrone was discovered as a stray and rescued by a kind-hearted soul who brought him to the local animal shelter. That's where we found him, and we just couldn't resist welcoming him into our amazing 10-week prison training program!
Morrone was brought to the city shelter as a stray, gentle, curious, and surprisingly well-mannered for a pup who had clearly been through so much, with missing fur, scabs, and a bad cold that quickly turned into serious pneumonia. After joining the PDP program, his condition worsened and he stopped eating, so he was rushed to Blue Pearl, where he spent a week in the hospital recovering in an oxygen chamber and charming every staff member with his sweet spirit. Despite everything he faced, he never stopped believing that better days were coming, and they did! Today, he’s a whole new dog. Healthy weight, shiny coat, bursting with energy, and more confident every day. Now he goes to “work” with his handler in the prison, eager to learn, eager to love, and so ready for a forever family to see the brave, joyful soul he truly is.

New Leash on Life USA is a new generation, non-profit prison dog-training program that saves the lives of shelter dogs at-risk of euthanasia and gives incarcerated participants a chance for redemption. Previously “unadoptable” shelter dogs, many at the brink of death, now find loving forever homes. Additionally, participants who have been in and out of prison most of their adult lives now have skills they can use to gain productive employment.
