My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application!

Hello! My name is Myles, and I am looking for a forever home! I am only one year old, but I have already experienced a lot. My first year was as a stray, so I feel like I missed out on fun puppy time; therefore, I still have lots to learn. Luckily, my amazing foster family has welcomed me into their home and shown me what love and comfort feel like. When I arrived, I was greeted by their two family dogs. I was so happy to see them, and I really enjoy playing with them. We love to go outside, sniff around and explore together. I’ve also met their cat—what an interesting little creature! I admit, I get curious and might bark and chase a bit, but I’m learning to be respectful.

At first, all the new surroundings were a little overwhelming, but I’m getting more comfortable every day. My foster family is teaching me my commands, and I already know how to sit and lie down. Treats are my favorite, and I’ll sit at attention for one. I also have plenty of chew toys to keep me occupied. Sometimes I can be a bit cautious when new people visit, but I have a plan for that—my crate! It’s my safe spot. I like to hang out there, watch all the action from its kitchen location, and I even sleep 8-9 hours in it.

My foster family describes me as enthusiastic and lively. I am a young boy after all! They are very patient with me and have given me reassurance in new situations. This is slowly building my confidence. It may be best if I found a home with a fenced-in yard so I have some boundaries. Another dog in the home would be an added bonus.

I hope you will consider adopting me. After all, I am a handsome, happy boy and quite a catch!

Additional adoption info

If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs please go directly to www.almosthomeohio.org for an application. Once the application is submitted, our adoption team can discuss the information on the application with you to determine if one of our dogs would be a good fit for your home. Lastly, a home visit will be done either by one of our volunteers or another reputable rescue volunteer in your area. We do adopt out of state, but it is up to the adopter to come meet and take the dog home. Sound like a lot to go through for a dog? It really isn't as complicated as it seems and it's the best way to ensure a good match. Please contact adoptions@almosthomeohio.org with any additional questions you may have after reviewing the information on our website.

More about this rescue

Almost Home Dog Rescue of Ohio is made up of a small (but growing) group of enthusiastic volunteers who want to make a difference in the lives of homeless dogs. Our background is with purebred collies and collie mixes but on occasion, we have other "family friendly" breeds. If you are searching for a collie, we'd like to help you find a wonderful companion that fits your family's lifestyle. All of our dogs are fully vaccinated and are spayed/neutered prior to adoption. They have also been tested and are negative for heartworm and are on heartworm preventative.
