What is Rehome?
If you see pets listed by a private owner, it means that they’re adoptable through Adopt a Pet’s Rehome program – the safe and reliable way to find a loving new home for your pet.
Bernie (~7, adopted from SF SPCA at 6 mos) is a loyal, affectionate, people-focused dog who struggles with other dogs (best as only pet). With two small kids, his size/strength and startle response make our home a poor fit—he’s never shown aggression toward them, but can lunge/bark at the door when startled. He thrives with structure: crate-trained, loves hikes/runs/walks, and has been reliable off-leash in low-distraction areas. We’ve worked with 4–5 trainers (incl. 4-week board-and-train); he improves with consistent, force-free management.
Ideal home: adults-only, no other dogs, fenced yard or acreage, quiet routine, experienced handler willing to continue training. No dog parks/daycare; use crate/gates for visitors and decompression.
We’ll provide vet records and training notes. Seeking a calm, structured meet-and-greet and a 7–14-day foster-to-adopt with a return-to-us clause to ensure the right match. Willing to wait for the right home for him.
