My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sturdel  is energetic, playful, and full of silly charm! He’s currently living it up with his brother in foster care, where he spends his days zooming around, chewing on toys (and anything else he can find!), and practicing being the best boy he can be. Strudel loves attention and will melt into your arms the moment you pick him up — his foster mom says he stays completely still and is as sweet as they come. He’s still learning all the puppy basics like potty training and leash walking, but he’s eager to please and already starting to understand simple cues like “come here” and “good boy.” He’s just a 15 lb, 3 month old puppy, and his foster mom recently noticed something was off with his eye. It turns out he developed cherry eye, a condition where the gland behind the third eyelid pops out. It’s fairly common in puppies and not dangerous, but it does require surgery so this little guy can stay healthy (and keep his handsome good looks). This handsome little guy will soon have a quick surgery to fix a cherry eye, and then he’ll be ready to charm his forever family! Strudel would thrive in a home that’s ready for puppy energy, someone patient, loving, and ready to guide him as he grows. H

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

The first step of the adoption process is to complete an adoption application in full at www.rescuecity.nyc. All of our dogs are in foster homes throughout the city. We do not have a physical location where we keep dogs.

More about this rescue

Rescue City is a no-kill, non-profit1 pet rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption organization. Our team of dedicated volunteers is based in Brooklyn, NY and serves the NYC metro and surrounding areas.

Our organization’s motto is: There’s a person for every dog, and there’s a dog for every person…it’s just a matter of time. This applies whether you are looking to adopt a pet, or would like to make a positive impact on the lives of animals. At Rescue City we believe it is our moral responsibility to defend the lives of abused, abandoned, and neglected animals.
We take on helpless stray and surrendered animals, as well as those at the top of the euthanasia list at local and international shelters. We place our rescues in nurturing foster homes while they rebuild their lives through physical and mental rehabilitation. Following a thorough – but hassle free – adoption process, our Rescues are placed in loving, responsible, and committed permanent homes. Every rescue is fully vetted and altered, micro-chipped, and vaccinated upon adoption. Our commitment to our rescues does not stop once the adoption paperwork is signed. We stress the importance of responsible pet ownership, and we educate our Fosters, Adopters, and community on what it means to be a good pet owner.
