Tippy is whip-smart, curious, and friendly with high intelligence shining through that just happens to have a moderate neurological condition that makes her a certified 'wobble-dog'. She's got plenty of energy and a silly, independent streak that keeps life interesting. Watching Tippy navigate her world with determination and confidence is genuinely inspiring. Her condition is well-managed with an affordable medication (less than $20 per month) that helps tame her tremors. Beyond that, Tippy is a healthy, happy dog who simply needs some minor accommodations to help her live her best life.
Tippy needs a home that can provide some simple modifications to keep her safe and comfortable:
Nonslip mats or rugs on slick floors to give her better traction
Raised food and water bowls to make eating and drinking easier
Baby gates to block off stairs (she shouldn't navigate stairs unsupervised)
A ground-level living space works best for her
Safety Notes:
Tippy cannot swim, so pools, lakes, and deep water should be avoided or carefully managed
She does best in environments where she can move confidently without too many obstacles
Medical Care:
Affordable monthly medication (estimated under $20/month)
Regular vet check-ups to monitor her condition
Tippy would thrive with an adopter who:
Appreciates her unique personality and doesn't see her condition as a limitation
Can provide the simple accommodations she needs to navigate safely
Has the energy to keep up with her curious, active nature
Values intelligence and independence in a dog
Understands that "special needs" doesn't mean "less capable"
Can commit to her medication routine and vet care
Tippy proves that different doesn't mean less. She's loyal, loving, smart, and fully capable of being an amazing companion. The accommodations she needs are simple and affordable, and in return, you get a dog with incredible spirit, determination, and personality. Tippy will teach you about resilience, joy, and living life on your own terms. She doesn't let anything hold her back, and she'll inspire you to do the same.

More about this rescue
Highland Lakes Canine Rescue was founded in 1999 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization by a group of folks who wanted to rescue homeless dogs from the Central Texas region and care for their health, rehabilitation and then to ultimately find these dogs a forever home uniting them with a newly adopted family. Initially HLCR started out as a foster only organization but over the 17 years has grown into it's own location with a kennel facility, outdoor pens, walking trails and staff and resident caretaker. An active and passionate group of staff and volunteers works tirelessly supporting HLCR and its mission.
