My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rio is a sweet, loyal cuddle bug with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He’s a talkative boy who isn’t shy about letting you know when it’s time for treats, meals, or extra snuggle sessions. Playful and active with a youthful spirit, Rio does well around other kitties and enjoys a good mix of fun and relaxation. He’s on the lookout for the perfect forever home where he can lounge, love, and soak up life with his family.

More about this shelter

Founded in 1971 as the Animal Aid Society of Englewood, Suncoast Humane Society began with a few cages where people left stray animals to be cared for. Over the years, our service area has grown to include over 400 square miles, covering three counties: Sarasota, Charlotte and portions of Lee.
Suncoast Humane Society provides a safe refuge for thousands of lost, abandoned and abused animals from our service area each year. We are committed to our open-door policy of never turning any animal away, regardless of health, temperament, breed or circumstances.
