My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: 1 year
Weight: 2.5 kg

Meet Candytuft, the former workingcat turned housecat! Due to her fearfulness, it was originally believed that Candytuft would do best in a place with as little human interaction as possible. However, with patience, time, and lots of tasty treats, she has shown that she`s just a timid tabby that needed help to see that not all people are scary. Once she gets to know you, Candytuft is an incredibly affectionate gal with quite the vocal range (she`s an expert triller!). She`s also still getting the hang of toys but with how curious she is, it doesn`t take her long to want to investigate her new plaything.

Because of how scared and shy Candytuft can be, her ideal home should be calm, quiet, and with a family that have a strong understanding of cat body language. During her time in shelter, she showed a lot of interest in other cats and would often trill at them, so there`s a chance she would do great with a feline friend! She`s still in the works of becoming a cat companion, but she`ll be the perfect pal for the right person! Come learn more about Candytuft today!

More about this shelter

CONNECTING LIVES SINCE 1922

From our earliest beginning, Calgary Humane Society was more than a shelter. As Calgary’s first-established animal welfare organization, connecting the lives of animals and people while providing essential animal services to the community remains our central priority.

Today, Calgary Humane Society (CHS) shelters almost 5,000 homeless animals each year. In 1922 we set out to help as many animals as we can and we will continue to do so by fostering the values of respect, compassion, commitment, teamwork, integrity and innovation.

Our mission is to help as many animals as we can.

Our vision is using innovative strategies to lead, inspire, and educate in the humane treatment of companion animals, fostering an enlightened community that consistently demonstrates respect and compassion for all animals.

Our dream is a community where animals are valued, humanely treated, and live enriched lives.

Calgary Humane Society is committed to creating a better tomorrow through education and collaboration.
