My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Fig was brought in by a Community Member on October 28, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Fig, a bright, spirited girl who's just waiting for the right person to bring out her fun-loving side. She may take a moment to get her bearings in new situations, but once she feels settled, her personality comes alive. Fig loves attention, leans right in for pets, and can get bouncy and excited when she's happy - she's the type who might wiggle her whole body just to say hello! She thrives with a calm, consistent routine and would love a home where she can be your one-and-only adventure buddy. Her history with other dogs is mixed, so if you have a resident pup, bring them along for a meet-and-greet. Busy environments and young kiddos are a bit much for her, but give her a comfy place to relax, some enrichment, and a person who understands her pace, and she'll shine! Shelter life has been stressful for this energetic girl, and she's dreaming of soft beds, sunny snoozes, and someone committed to keeping her active, engaged, and loved. With a little time and a lot of care, Fig transforms into a playful, affectionate companion who's always ready for fun with her favorite human! Ask about adopting Fig today!

At SDHS:
Fig has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. She is now ready for her new home!

Excitable Dog: Fig requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about her.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
