My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Jabarkus was brought in by a Good Samaritan.

Why Jabarkus might be the one for you:
Jabarkus took things into his own paws when he ran up to his good samaritan and then hopped into their car. He is a handsome, strong guy with a beautiful blue/grey coat and white markings including white paws. He sometimes has a worried look as he wonders who will come and take him home. He wants folks who will love and care for him in a home that is warm and stable. He is easy to leash but needs a strong walker as he likes to pull to sniff lots of stuff. He wants pets from people but needs some encouragement from them. In a nutshell, Jabarkus needs assurance that he is doing the right thing.. Have you been wanting to bring a strong, protector dog into your home? Can you help Jabarkus become a confident outgoing guy by using positive reinforcement training techniques? A consistent routine and fun, enriching activities will help Jabarkus get used to his home and feel like part of his family! If you'd like to learn more about Jabarkus and give him the confidence to be dog that you and he want him to be, come visit us at the San Diego Campus today!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
