My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Simba – The Young Egyptian Mau with the Spirit of a Wildcat and the Heart of a Companion!

Simba is a stunning 9-month-old Egyptian Mau — a breed that traces its heritage all the way back to the time of the Pharaohs. This ancient and rare breed from Egypt is known for its naturally spotted coat, striking green eyes, and graceful athletic build.

Like his ancestors, Simba has a playful, curious, and intelligent nature. His personality is often compared to that of a Bengal — full of energy, confidence, and charm. He loves to climb, explore, and play interactive games, making him a wonderful match for an active household that enjoys engaging with their feline companion.

Simba also has a loving side. Once he bonds with you, he’ll follow you around, “talk” to you with his soft voice, and enjoy being near his favorite humans. He’s loyal, affectionate, and happiest when he feels included in family life.

Simba is healthy, vaccinated, and neutered — ready for his forever home!

If you’ve been dreaming of a cat with both regal heritage and playful personality, Simba might just be your perfect match.

Reach out today to meet Simba — the little prince descended from Pharaohs, ready to rule your heart.

All of our cats for adoption are sterilized, fully vaccinated, treated for fleas/worms, are negative for FIV/FELV, have a registered microchip, and come with their travel crate.  Adoptions are on a cost-recovery basis and are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Potential adopters for our Persian cats need to have prior Persian cat experience as they need to be well cared for.  Grooming, dental, and veterinarian exams are done once a year, and a good quality brand of cat food such as Royal Canin, Hills Science Diet, or Purina Pro plan is the upper tier level with a black label.

We are a rescue and get what we get in terms of cats in need of a home. In no way do we work with breeders or buy the cats from the Friday markets so we can put them up for adoption as a rescue.

Native Mau Cats of Egypt are the oldest known descendants of Egyptian domesticated cats (which have provided a partial foundation for the recent Egyptian Mau cat breed), and they are one of only a few naturally occurring, small, spotted cats in the world. Adoptions are on a cost-recovery basis and by an approved application.   NVEcats aims to increase education in Egypt and around the world about these magnificent and intelligent cats.

Cats and kittens are not adopted out on a “first-come, first-serve” basis. We choose to match our applicants and cats based on what we deem as best suited for that particular cat or kitten.
