My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Whom — Small Cat, Big Comfort Energy 💛
“What’s that you say? Chin rubs are free today? I’m on my way.”

Whom is a soft-hearted little lady who loves life’s simple comforts—especially chin rubs and cozy hiding spots. She’s known for tucking herself into snug nooks like she hand-selected them herself, settling in like a tiny queen of relaxation.

But the moment you sit beside her, her bravery kicks in. She steps forward, eyes warm with trust, and a single scratch under her chin sends her purring like a quiet motor. She leans in gently, melting into your hand as if she’s been waiting her whole life for that moment.

Whom has golden eyes that glow with sweetness and soft fur that feels like a secret you get to keep. All she needs now is a calm, loving home, a safe lap, and someone who understands that love can begin with something as simple as a chin rub.

Her forever person? Just a scratch away. 💛An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Dog adoption fees are $200.00 for all puppies and adult dogs. Seniors are a donation of choice.
Cats and kittens are a donation of choice.

More about this shelter

At DeKalb Humane Society, we are passionate about finding forever homes for the pets in our care. Whether they are cats, dogs, or other furry friends, our mission is to provide them with a loving and nurturing environment.

We also believe in the importance of education about responsible pet ownership. We strive to educate our community about pet welfare, the benefits of spaying/neutering, and the prevention of animal abuse and neglect.

By adopting a pet from us, you are not only gaining a lifetime companion, but you are also contributing to our cause and helping us raise awareness. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of these innocent animals.

The DeKalb Humane Society filed for our Certificate of Incorporation on December 23, 1975 and we were granted 501(c)3 status in March of 1976. We are committed to being a no-kill shelter and serving the DeKalb County area.
