My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Meet Buddy, a handsome young Sheltie who’s full of energy, brains, and heart! He taller than the average Sheltie so he looks more like a small Collie, and he’s just as sweet as he is good-looking.  He is 35lbs and 22' at the shoulder.

Buddy is great with other dogs and dog-savvy cats (though if the cat runs, the chase is on!). He’s a bit shy at first, but once he feels safe, his playful, affectionate side shines through. New places and noises can still be a little intimidating for him, so patience and gentle encouragement are key.

He’s crate trained—and really needs his crate, since he’s a curious boy who likes to “help” by checking out anything within reach. (Blankets, toys, tissues... you name it!) Buddy has plenty of that classic Sheltie energy, loves to play fetch, and will thrive in a home that keeps both his body and his mind busy.

Buddy walks nicely on a leash, but vehicles are a challenge—his herding instincts kick into high gear when cars go by. He’ll need continued training to work through this, and we’re looking for an experienced owner or someone committed to working with a trainer to help him with his vehicle reactivity.

He’s already attended Puppy Kindergarten and Canine Good Citizen classes and was just one session away from earning his CGC certificate!

Buddy is a bright, active, loving young dog who just needs guidance and structure to become the amazing companion he’s meant to be.  Could you be the right home for Buddy?

Buddy is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped and on monthly flea/heartworm preventatives.

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ

Click here for the ADOPTION APPLICATION if you are interested in adopting this pet.

Applications are the first step in the adoption processPlease do not call or email simply to express interest. We are all volunteers and receiving your application saves us time and helps to determine the best match for both people and dogs.

We provide as much information as we currently have on each dog in their description. For questions on the adoption process, including fees, please review the Adoption page. If you have additional questions or are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption application. Once we receive your application someone will be in touch to answer your questions.

We do not arrange visits to meet dogs without an application. If you'd like to meet a variety of dogs without filling out an application please attend one of our events, listed under the events link.

 Thank you!

Additional adoption info

Filling out an application is the first step. An online application is located on Haven to Home's homepage. Application, references, home visit and adoption fee are required to adopt one of our dogs. Due to the severe overpopulation of dogs in this country Haven to Home believes that responsible pet owners have their pets spayed or neutered. Therefore it is our policy not to adopt our dogs to people who do not have their current animals spayed or neutered unless there is a medical reason. Adoption fees are listed on our website.
