Basket ACCT-A-235259 is a 4-year-old male that came in as a stray on 10/21.

Medical notes:

Per an exam on 11/5: “FeLV +; historical (improving) anemia
Objective:
-BAR, very sweet
-MCS 1.5/3
-shaved dorsum, few matts noted on ventrum
-Allowed all handling, very friendly.
Assessment:
-FeLV +

Per an exam on 10/28:
-BCS 3/9
-Stage 1/4 periodontal disease.
-Matted haircoat on ventral abdomen. Shaved hair on dorsum. Alopecia on ventral abdomen and medial distal limbs. no appreciable ectoparasites
Assessment:
-FeLV positive
CBC - regenerative anemia (stable compared to 10/23 - HCT 20%, Reticu 128K). neutrophilia improving from 10/23. WBC 25K, Neut 22.3K

Per exam on 10/23:
“PC: Pt was abandoned in SPCA parking lot.

BCS: 2.5/9
BEHAVIOR: BAR, very friendly and sweet. Resented restraint for blood draw. Eagerly eating treats
ORAL: pale pink and moist, <2 s. No obvious oral masses/lesions on cursory examination. Minimal dental tartar.
CV: WNL; No murmur/arrhythmia auscultated
M/S: Diffuse muscle atrophy. Amb x 4
INTEG: Alopecia/scarring on calvarium, crusting points of alopecia on point of hocks. Hair matting on dorsum and abdomen. Alopecia on medial aspects of FL's and ventral thorax. Mild pododermatitis and crusting of digital pads. Thin, flaky, fragile skin and greasy coat.

Per intake exam on 10/21:
“Weight: 5.9 lbs
BCS: 2 - Very Thin
Temperature: 102.3°F
Heart rate: 160 bpm
Respiratory rate: 27.3 bpm
Assessment:
- Male intacked
- clear slight bit of crust in eyes
- waxy ears
- dry nose, also has crust going around the nostrils
-Skin is extremely dry, with patches of hair missing through out the whole body
- with slight tarter and yellow staining
- good
- BAR friendly leaning im for pets

Behavioral notes:

Per staff 11/25: “Basket was soliciting attention so volunteer went to pet him and then got distracted by another cat meowing at him, turned, and Basket bit him on the middle finger, breaking skin and causing a few punctures” Basket was cleared from his bite quarantine on 11/25.

Per staff on 10/23:
“I went to say hello to Basket and he was super friendly! He immediately got up and said hello, and allowed me to pet him all over, especially enjoying back scratches! He even leaned in a bit to chin scritches. I paused for a minute and went back to get a picture, and he sat down & rolled right over! Sweet boy!”

The Animal Care & Control Team of Philadelphia (ACCT Philly) is the region’s largest animal care and control service provider. ACCT Philly is an independent, 501c3 nonprofit organization, contracted by the City of Philadelphia to provide animal control services. Our animal control officers provide service over 142.6 square miles to the city’s more than 1.5 million residents and ACCT Philly’s facility in North Philadelphia handles more than 17,000 of the city’s animals, from dogs and cats, to small animals, reptiles, birds and wildlife, annually.

In addition to animal control and sheltering, ACCT Philly is open 365 days a year for pet adoptions. ACCT Philly also supports a foster care program where community members provide temporary homes for sheltered animals and one of the (if not THE) most extensive rescue partnership program in the country where approved rescue partners accept ACCT Philly animals into their adoption programs. Under contract ACCT Philly’s Animal Control Officers provide animal control services and code enforcement.
