Paws Place Rescue Inc. is a private, selective 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue and sanctuary based near Whitney, Texas. Founded and operated by Denise Zamora and her husband Jason Hole, a disabled Army veteran, our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals in need — while creating a safe haven for those who are too old, unadoptable, or simply need a place to live out their lives surrounded by love.
We are not a shelter; we are a rescue family and community movement. Every life we save, every animal we rehabilitate, and every person we reach is part of a greater mission to change how our community views animal welfare.
We work tirelessly to:
Rescue abandoned, abused, neglected, and stray animals across Whitney, Hill County, and surrounding areas.
Provide full vetting, vaccinations, microchipping, and spay/neuter for every animal before adoption.
Offer temporary sanctuary housing for animals who cannot be rehomed.
Operate programs that give back to our community, such as:
“Pets & Vets” – pairing rescue animals with local veterans for emotional support and rehabilitation.
“Student P.A.W.S.” – working with Baylor University and Whitney ISD students to earn volunteer credits while helping animals.
“The Care Program” – assisting caregivers and landowners with managed rehoming and barn cat transfers.
Host adoption events, community fundraisers, and educational outreach to promote responsible pet ownership and spay/neuter awareness.
❤️ Why We Do It
We do it because every life matters — from the smallest kitten to the oldest senior dog.
We do it because Whitney and Hill County deserve a safe, compassionate solution for the stray crisis.
We do it because no animal should suffer or be left behind, and no person should have to choose between keeping a pet and affording care.
And we do it because this is our community — and real change starts right here, with us.
At Paws Place Rescue, we believe it takes a village to make a difference. Together, we can build that village — one paw at a time.
